Product Description Emiluma™ silicone is a unique clear, soft silicone used in making indirect
bonding trays. It can be used with the Quick IDBS™ system developed
by Dr Masatada Koga and Dr. Kazuya Watanabe.
It is the ideal clear, soft material used adjacent to the
orthodontic brackets in an indirect tray. It has been clinically used in Japan
for 10 years and is now available to the rest of the world.
Emiluma silicone is clear so orthodontists can see the brackets through the
indirect tray. Emiluma is soft enough to not remove brackets when the trays are
being removed yet firm enough to maintain proper bracket position for accurate
placement.
Features and Benefits The key
features of this product are
1) It's clarity that allow visualization of brackets
before final bracket placement.
2) The firmness of the material which is 'just right' for
holding brackets in the proper position and yet allowing easy tray removal without
any lost brackets upon tray removal from the bonded teeth.
Orthodontists tell us that they love this material due to it's clarity and
'just right' firmness.
We've been told that there are several very good hard silicones such as Memosil2 (Kulzer) and Odontosil (DREVE) for making indirect
trays but the Emiluma soft is the missing link...a clear soft material perfect for
application next to the brackets or for making the entire tray.
In a vacuum formed indirect tray technique , one only uses Emiluma silicone
and forms a vacuum formed hard plastic outer shell for structural support.
In a two silicone tray technique (Quick IDBS TM technique), Emiluma silicone is placed next to the
brackets and a firmer silicone (Memosil or Odontosil) is placed over the
Emiluma silicone to provide more structural support of the
tray.
Chair side Application of orthodontic brackets using indirect
technique using Emiluma trays Emiluma silicone shines at chairside!
No one likes brackets coming off when the indirect tray is being removed from
the patient's mouth. Careful technique and the soft Emiluma can allow you
to remove indirect trays without losing any bonds.
With a opaque indirect tray it is a matter of feel to determine that the tray
is seated properly and that all brackets are in proper position.
With
Emiluma, you can see the bracket, tooth and surrounding structures. You
can see if the brackets are properly positioned and reset a tray before adhesive
cures. That can improve the patient's experience with initial bonding in
your office. It can reduce chair time and avoid costly
mistakes. Good materials, good technique allow for efficiency and
effectiveness in your indirect technique.
Laboratory Fabrication of Indirect trays using Emiluma TM silicone There are many techniques practiced in fabrication and application
of orthodontic indirect bonding trays. We illustrate two techniques used
in Japan and USA with Emiluma silicone on the following pages. Note that
both techniques provide the orthodontist with a clear indirect bonding tray that
when removed. Since both techniques use the Emiluma material next to the
orthodontic brackets, the trays accurately place brackets and do not remove the
bonded brackets when the trays are taken out of the patient's
mouth.
