Ortho Kinetics is pleased to announce the introduction of several new
products. Ortho Kinetics has the exclusive Non-Japan distribution rights to
Emiluma™ soft silicon impression material manufactured by Japan's SHOFU
company. Emiluma silicon is used in indirect bonding tray fabrication such
as the "Quick IDBS" system developed by Dr. Masatada Koga
and Dr. Kazuya Watanabe. Ortho Kinetics is also offering other indirect
bonding system components such as Indirect bonding model cases and
silicone dispenser guns and mixing tips.
Ortho Kinetics is offering new low cost light curing lights such as the
first disposable light "EZOrtho" and the "EZ Light
Stick". Both are economical solutions to having an additional
curing light handy at all times.

support these new products.

Public and Professional Relations- Affirm Smart Headgear
In the April volume, AJODO ran an
article on our Affirm™ Smart headgear System. The Story is Titled
"Accuracy of patient reporting as an indication of headgear compliance".
(Am J Orthod Dentofacial Orthop 2002;121:419-23)
Dr
William Cole reported on the clinical use of the Compliance Science system in the article.
The observations from this study include:
"Some may consider the timing headgear a useful
adjunct in promoting better patient compliance."
(I paraphrase): 69% of patients reported headgear
compliance with 84% accuracy or better.
It is worth looking at this article.

Catalog and Doctor Price List
In support of our customers , we now
have available online (on this website) a listing of most current Ortho
Kinetics Products. We will be printing a new catalog in a few
months and are now taking requests from people who require a printed catalog. Since many people only require a page or two of the printed catalog
for their order records, the online catalog should meet most of your requirements to know
the order numbers for OKC products.
May we suggest, that you find the pages you require online
and print them for your records.
We will be updating our website to include all our products in the products sections of the Ortho Kinetics Corp website.

Open Spaces Orthodontic
Pillows
We are pleased to announce a policy change for
Open Spaces Orthodontic Pillows. Previously, we printed thousands of order forms
which were mailed to referring orthodontists and handed to parents and patients with
basic information on Open Spaces Pillows.In an
effort to avoid having to increase the price of the Open Spaces Pillows from it's current
$19.95 price level, we are discontinuing the mailed in order/referral forms. Parents
and patients may get product information and place orders on the web from our website at www.openspaces.com or by calling our toll free number
800 467 8465.
A printable order form/referral form will be available from
that website shortly. It will allow orthodontic office to print Open Spaces referral
forms on demand (as required) in the quantities which office require.
We know that Open Spaces Pillows are used by hundreds of
patients and orthodontic offices to make the adjustment of orthodontic headgear easier on
the patients. We would like to streamline the Open Spaces business by as sensible
use of the worldwide web. It will allow cost efficient delivery of this reasonably
prices product to thousands of patients annually.
We also note that effective July 1st the shipping and
handling fees for the Open Spaces pillow increases from $5 to $9 each. We have not
increased this fee as postal rates have soared during the past 10 years and one big
adjustment is necessary to keep pace with postal rates.

Headgear Saga
In January 2001, my daughter (Stephanie)
received her first headgear from her orthodontist (Dr Will Andrews of San Diego, CA).
I decided to keep a diary of
reflections based upon our family's experience with orthodontic headgear. I thought
parents and patients would like to know that we don't just make and invent these products
for others benefit. We also use them on our loved ones. As a headgear expert, I thought
others would like to learn from our experience. Learn more here.
I have also made free headgear compliance wear
chart that we use at our home to monitor our daughter's headgear wear. Print one for yourself.
In 2004, treatment is mainly complete with
her braces off and Stephanie is into a retainer. The results are
beautiful. Her result was surprisingly good according to Dr. Will
Andrews. Good compliance, a great patient and great orthodontist have
provided Stephanie with a winning smile.

The OKC Force Tool is a computer
program that shows the force levels and travel available from all strap extension levels
of OKC headgear modules. It is available as a free download to your computer. We think
this will assist university students understand how headgear force modules function. Download it Now .
OKC Website Updates
In an ongoing effort to provide our customers
with the best and most complete information available on orthodontic headgear, we have
added new features to our OKC website. OKC

ran an internet news story on our Affirm™M Smart headgear System. The Story is
Titled" Playing Smart with crooked teeth". Click here to see the

The July/December 1999 issue of the
Ortodontia Gaucha magazine published an article titled "Presentation of the CSS
(Compliance Science System) as a way to evaluate the use of headgear anchorage
appliances". The study appeared in Portuguese in volume III, Number 2.The paper depicts a study being conducted at Orthodontics
Specialization Course of the federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto
Alegre-RS- Brazil using the Compliance Science System. See

The study shows patient cooperation and tooth movement

AAO Convention -2003
Ortho Kinetics Corporation will be exhibiting
our products at the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) meeting in May in

Lectures/Teaching on our products
Dr Carlos Rodrigues will be conducting a Table
Clinic on the Affirm Smart headgear and Compliance Science System and their clinical use
at the American Association of Orthodontists Meeting in Chicago on Sunday April 30th,
2000. Orthodontists are encouraged to sign up early for this practical clinical
presentation.
Product Discontinuation -2000
Ortho Kinetics Corporation announces the
immediate discontinuation of the Hang Ten brand orthodontic headgear. The results were
disappointing on the Hang Ten band headgear so management has elected not to continue the
licensing agreement of the Hang Ten brand name. The
cushions and high pull straps that previously had the Hang Ten label sewn on will be
available under our Comfort™ brand headgear. The only difference will be the absence
of the Hang Ten label.
